Researchers at Arizona State University (ASU), as part of the National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT), are gathering the industry’s feedback on the development of a UAV-assisted system to monitor paving construction quality.

We have developed a protocol for using a UAV (also known as a drone) to monitor thermal segregation and track the movements of rollers.

Your responses to this 3-5 minute survey will help us understand current practices and refine this system for industry use. All responses will be kept confidential and used for research purposes only.

The authors - H. Ozer, N. V. Vedula, and M. Beheshti - have filed a patent for the developed protocol with the title of invention “Systems and Methods for Thermal Profiling of Asphalt Pavement Construction using Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles” with United States Patent Application no. 19/182,133 filed with Skysong Innovations at Arizona State University.
