GCSP Research Stipend Application: Spring 2025

You will submit the application and upload your proposal and supporting documents. Please include:

Proposal (2 page limit):
in your own words briefly describe the research. Specifically and clearly state the research question to be investigated, experiments and other activities, expected outcomes, and the impact of your research in relation to the Grand Challenges.

Bibliography (1 page limit):
List at least five resources you reviewed that are related to your research area.

Timeline:
Create a reasonable and descriptive timeline that relates to the proposed research activities for the requested semester.

Personal Statement (1 page limit):
Write about how the proposed research activity relates to your personal and professional goals. Also describe how the research relates to your progress in the Grand Challenges Scholars Program (including how you have been actively engaged in GCSP).

Cover Letter, Resume and Unofficial Transcript:
please submit current documents. Please note you must have completed at least 12 credit hours at ASU, successfully completed FSE 150: Perspectives on Grand Challenges for Engineering and earned at least a 3.00 GPA or higher.

Materials budget

Applications will be reviewed by the Grand Challenges Scholars Program Committee.
Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. in order to receive the stipend. MasterCard Scholars are unable to be funded through the GCSP Research Stipend due to scholarship work restrictions.
Students receiving research funding from any other source(s) such as FURI, REU, NASA Space Grant, etc. are not eligible for the GCSP Research Stipend. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
