Seize the Moment
Faculty Research Seed Grant Pitch
Thank you for your interest in applying for a faculty research seed grant with Seize the
Moment! An initiative of the Leonardo, the Humanities Lab and the Global Futures Laboratory, Seize the Moment is offering ASU faculty up to $10,000 for collaborative, transdisciplinary research projects and activities that address the intersecting social, environmental, and health crises of the syndemic.

Pitching your project
In order to streamline our evaluation processes and reduce the amount of work required for prospective applicants, applications for seed grants take place through a two-stage application process. In 500 words or less, your pitch should focus on articulating the vision, concept, and impact of your proposed project:
  • Identify the problem: Identify a problem at the intersection of health, social, and environmental issues.
  • Address the problem: Propose a transdisciplinary collaboration that is anchored in the arts or humanities.
  • Articulate your impact: Describe the goals, outcomes, and impacts you hope the project or activity will achieve.
  • Leverage the grant: Identify and describe how the seed grant will enable the project to continue into the future and/or be leveraged for other opportunities.
    • Examples include but are not limited to: applying for larger grants; securing donations from individuals, academic units, corporations, private foundations, or other sources of funding; and engaging in entrepreneurial activities.
Please make sure to read the full guidelines before submitting.
You'll also need to submit a proposal statement of 50 words or less, professional biographies for you and your collaborators, and your CV.

Timelines
The deadline for pitches is August 29. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected to advance to the next round for a proposal within two weeks. Applicants will then have up to a month to submit a full proposal. Final decisions should be made by mid-October.
