The Professional Development Fund provides funding of up to $1,500 for current ASU MFA students in creative writing to support a single significant professional development opportunity.
Eligible Activities
Funding requested can cover travel, registration fees, application fees, and more. Examples of qualifying opportunities may include:
Presenting at a conference or festival
Participating in a competitive residency program, workshop, or other educational opportunity
Other engagements that offer opportunities for professional and creative advancement
Funding may be requested for travel, technology, or other costs associated with participating in professional development opportunities whether in-person or virtual.
We know timing can be a challenge. If applying for funding for a conference, festival, residency, or workshop, your application should, if possible, demonstrate that you have been selected or invited to participate. While most eligible activities tend to take place in the summer, you can also apply for an activity during the previous academic term by presenting receipts for reimbursement.
If you need funding in advance during the academic year, we suggest you look at funding available through the GPSA, which accepts applications year-round and reviews them monthly.
